In what must be one of the closest pennant seasons ever, the finalists in three of the four divisions came down to only one or two individual matches, and in one case, down to one hole, over the entire season!
In Division 1, last week’s ladder leaders Neangar Park Gold suffered a humiliating defeat and have been relegated to third position. Out of the four teams vying for the finals berths, Belvoir Park and Bendigo have come out on top.
In Division 2, Axedale have snuck into the final against Belvoir Park by a single match, thanks to a gallant effort by Stu McGibbon winning on the 19th!
Division 3 also saw a number of teams battling it out for the two top spots, with Bendigo Blue also getting in by one game. They will take on their club mates, Bendigo White.
In the Open Division there have been two teams clear at the top of the ladder for a few weeks now – Belvoir Park 1 and Neangar Park. They played one another today in order to determine who will be favourite when they tee it up against one another in the final next week.
The finals will be played at the Heathcote Golf Club on Sunday 2 May starting at 12 noon. A random draw has been held to allocate starting tees. Visitors are encouraged to come along and cheer your favourite teams along.
